Channahon is a village in Will County in Illinois. The population is 12,560 and the county seat is Joliet. Channahon’s name means “Meeting of the Waters” and the village is located at the union of the Des Plaines and Kankakee River where they form the Illinois River. The city is also home to the Channahon Park District that maintains parks, facilities and plans programs throughout the year for the district. The village is close to two trunk line interstates which resulted in industrial growth. The Will County Adult Detention Facility offer safe and humane detention of those waiting for trail or serving criminal sentences. The Detention facility is not a correctional facility and rehabilitation is not a function or goal.
