Mount Morris is the home of the Illinois Freedom Bell. The Bell is located in the town square that used to be the campus of one of Illinois’ first institutes of higher learning., Mount Morris College. Mount Morris is also famous for a very large group of lustron homes or homes that came on a truck as a kit and put together by local builders. The homes were designed to be built quickly, neighborhoods prefabricated and sold to GIs returning from WWII.
