Mercer County Sheriff Information

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office provides several law enforcement services to the people working and living in the county. The department operates an advanced 911 center, handles courthouse security, provides patrol to county roads, and maintains the county jail. The MCSO also provides basic police services to the Villages of Matherville and Joy. The MCSO is comprised of several divisions and units including Patrol, Investigations, Search and Rescue, Civil Process, and Jail Division. The head of the MCSO is Sheriff Dusty Terrill.

Mercer County Jail Information

The Mercer County Jail houses all sentenced and arrested county inmates as well as federal and Cook County inmates in transit or awaiting trial. The facility can house up to 102 people. The current supervisor of the facility is Chief of Corrections Justin Hartman. All inmates at this facility are allowed one visit for each visitation day. Visitation is held on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 9am to 1pm and 2:30pm to 9pm. All visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.
