Hillside, Illinois is a village in Cook County and the county seat is Chicago. The population at the 2010 census was 8,157. Al Capone is buried in Hillside at Mount Carmel, a Chicago Archdiocese Cemetery. His grave is a tourist attraction. In the mid-1950s, Hillside was the site of the 67-store regional Hillside Shopping Center. The Center was turned into a 471,000 square foot enclosed shopping mall in 1967 and remodeled again in 1975. The shopping center generates sales tax revenues that are used by the Village.
