Pekin, Illinois is a city in the county of Tazewell. The county seat is Pekin. Pekin is the largest city in Tazewell County and the second most populous municipality in the Peoria metropolitan area. The population according to the 2010 census is 34,094. Pekin hosts the Marigold Festival that is meant to encourage community pride. There are over two million marigolds planted throughout the city. Food concessions, parades, fund raising and music by the Pekin Community High School Show choir are featured. The Marigold Festival has grown to attract more than 100,000 people annually.
