Clay County Sheriff Information
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is primarily responsible for “keeping the peace” in the area. The department provides 24-hour patrol, surveillance, and dispatch to the community. The CCSO is also responsible for operating the county jail and delivering all court orders, degrees, summons, etc. In addition, this department handles courthouse and courtroom security. The head of the CCSO is Sheriff Andy Myers. Under his command are 1 Chief Deputy, 8 Patrol Deputies, 1 Corrections Sergeant, 5 Jailers, 1 Courthouse Security Officer, and 5 part-time Bailiffs. The Chief Deputy of the CCSO is Steve Spitzner. He is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the department and answers directly to the Sheriff.
