McHenry County Sheriff Information
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is comprised of over 400 employees who work together to help prevent crime and maintain safety and order in the county. The department is comprised of several divisions including Administration, Investigations, Operations, Corrections, and Special Services. The Administration Division oversees civil process, communications, court security, and records, among other things. The Investigations Division is comprised of several units including the Criminal Investigations Unit, the Apprehension Unit, the Gang Unit, the Narcotics Unit, the Computer Crimes Unit, and Crime Stoppers. The Operations Division consists of several units as well including the Canine Unit, Marine Unite, Accident Investigation Unit, Motorcycle Unit, SWAT, and Truck Enforcement. The head of the MCSO is Sheriff Bill Prim.
