The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office works in partnership with the community and other local law enforcement agencies in reducing and preventing crime, enforcing laws and ordinances, and responding to calls for service as well as emergency situations. The department employs 165 full-time employees and 24 part-time employees. There are several divisions in the PCSO including Corrections, Patrol, Investigations, Courthouse Security, and Search & Rescue. The head of the PCSO is Sheriff Brian Asbell. The Corrections Division of the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office manages the 8th largest jail in Illinois. The head of the division is Corrections Superintendent Ronda Y. Guyton. The inmates in this facility are allowed one 20-minute visits per week. All visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Visits can be scheduled online.
The Peoria County Jail maintains an online database of information on all inmates currently housed in the facility. The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking to hire a Deputy Sheriff. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and a US citizen. He or she must live within a 35-mile radius of the four-way stop in Kickapoo, IL. He or she must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and pass a series of tests.
