The Corrections Division of the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office oversees the Jerome Combs Detention Center and the Kankakee County Detention Center. The Jail Administrator is Cha Kolitwenzew. The JCDC facility can house up to 456 inmates while the KCDC facility can house a maximum of 244 inmates. The average daily population of the two facilities is 696 inmates. Inmates at these facilities are allowed visitation. Each inmate is allowed 1 on-site visit per week. Visitors must be on the inmate’s visitation list. The visitation schedule is as follows:

Applicants for Deputy Sheriff must be a US citizen, 21 years of age, have 80 semester hours of college/university, possess a valid Driver’s License, and pass a background investigation. For the Correctional Officer, the applicant must be a US citizen, 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, have a driver’s license, and pass a background investigation.
