Piatt County Sheriff Information

The Piatt County Sheriff’s Office is comprised of a Patrols and Investigations Division, a Court Security Division, a K-9 Unit, and a Corrections Division. The department is headed by Sheriff David Hunt who serves as the chief law enforcement officer in the county. Chief Deputy Mark S. Mackey serves as the second-in-command in the department. He oversees the daily activities of all the divisions and answers directly to the Sheriff. Jail Superintendent Karla Bell heads the Corrections Division of the PCSO. She oversees the care and custody of all inmates currently housed in the county facility.

The Piatt County Jail can be found within the Public Safety Building where the Sheriff’s Office is also located. This facility houses individuals who are awaiting bond or trial, those who have been sentenced to serve time, and those being held for other law enforcement agencies. The county jail can hold up to 76 inmates. Inmates at this facility are granted visitation rights. Each inmate is entitled to two 20-minute visits per visitation day. Visiting hours for female inmates are from 12pm to 2pm on Tuesdays and 8am to 10am on Sundays. For local male inmates, visitation is held on Tuesdays from 2 to 4pm and Sundays from 1 to 3pm. For non-local or out-of-county inmates, visitation is from 4pm to 6pm on Wednesdays and Sundays.
