Brookfield was settled in 1889 when Samuel Eberly Gross, a Chicago lawyer began selling building lots along both sides of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad line. The village offered suburban living at prices affordable to working-class families. Today the Village offers cultural amenities and access to downtown Chicago. Families ae provided great schools and suburban living. There are a variety of churches, schools, low taxes and extensive parks and recreation programs.
