Carpentersville, Illinois
Carpentersville is a village in Kane County, Illinois. The population is 37,691 and the county seat of Kane County Is Geneva, Illinois. Carpentersville was founded by Julius Angelo Carpenter who came with his family from Uxbridge, Massachusetts and settled near the Fox River. Carpenter built the first store, bridge and factory. For over one hundred years, Carpentersville did not grow rapidly, but when the electric interurban railroad came to Carpentersville in 1896 the town took off. In 1956 the population began to shift, and Dundee Community High School was relocated to Carpentersville. In 1958 to 1969 Carpentersville was home to the Meadowdale International Raceway. This site is now a Township Park and County Forest Preserve. Carpentersville is under a council manager form of government and the Mayor is John Skillman.
