Ina, Illinois is the southernmost village in Jefferson County, Illinois and the county seat is Mount Vernon. The population at the 2010 census was 2,338. Cherokee families settled in Ina around 1840. These were refugees from the famous Trail of Tears. Ina is the home of two terrible crimes. One happened in 1924 and the other was a quadruple homicide when the Dardeen Family was murdered.
