As of 2016 the population is estimated to be 29,641. Highland Park is one of several municipalities located on the North Shore of the Chicago metropolitan area. Highland Park has landmark structures listed in the National Register of Historic Places. One is the Willits House designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
