Diamond is a village in Grundy and Will Counties Illinois. The county seats are: Will County – Joliet, Grundy County – Morris. The population is 2,527 at the 2010 census. The post office was established in 1872 and remained in operation until 1909. The village was named for tis location in the center of the Black Diamond coal district. Be sure and check out the monument memorializing the 1883 Diamond Mine flood that killed 72 miners.
