Decatur, Illinois is the largest city and the county seat of Macon County, Illinois. The city was founded in 1829 and is bordered by the Sangamon River and Lake Decatur in Central Illinois. The city’s motto is “Decatur, We Like it Here.” Decatur was awarded the All-America City in 1960. At one-time Decatur was the home of the Chicago Bears (1919 to1920).
