Hampshire, Illinois is a village in Kane County, Illinois. The county seat is Geneva. According to the 2010 census, Hampshire has 5,563 residents. Hampshire was originally known as Henpeck. In 1845 Hampshire Township was organized and the name was officially changed to Hampshire. In 1893 the Village was the second largest milk producing and shipping station in Illinois. During WWII Hampshire entertained a prisoner of war amp for 250 German soldiers. They worked at the Inderrieden Canning Company.
