The Lake County Adult Corrections Facility processed, monitors, and detains offenders in the Lake County area including the Village of Beach Park. The capacity of the jail is 740 inmates and no inmate is held in the country jail for more than 364 days. The jail is accredited through the American Correctional Association which reflects up to date policies and procedures. In 2016, the correctional facility earned the accreditation of the National Commission on Correctional Health Care. There are inmate programs, food service, library, and religious volunteer programs.

The McHenry Sheriff’s Department is a major law enforcement entity for Island Lake, Illinois. The office has a staff of more than 400 employees to help the Sheriff formulate plans and policies, provide management and accomplish the goals of the department. The McHenry County Jail was established in 1837. The correctional facility has the capacity to house 650 inmates. It employees 195 correctional offices and staff. Most inmates are awaiting trial in criminal cases and those that have been sentenced to the County facility. The inmate is held at the facility until they post bond or are sentenced.
