Beecher, Illinois Information
Beecher is a village in Will County Illinois. The county seat is Joliet. The population is 4,447. The railroad came first, and then the Village of Beecher. The train depot was originally the center of activity and business until it was sold and moved to Monee, Illinois. It was used as a gift shop until the 1980s while in Monee. The depot was returned to its site in Beecher in 2000 and renovated. It is a wooden depot and one of the last depots left on the former C&EI route. It is now the home of the local Beecher historical society.
Beecher is less than an hour from downtown Chicago, and the county, Will, is growing substantially. Affordable housing, low crime rates and competitive commercial and industrial businesses keep Beecher growing. The Mayor is Greg Szymanski who is elected for a four-year term.
