Bethalto, Illinois is a village located in Madison County, Illinois, and the county seat is Edwardsville, Illinois. The population of Bethalto is 9,521. The village was incorporated in 1869 and again in 1873 under the State of Illinois’ general law. The government is a village president or mayor and six trustees. The mayor of the Village of Bethalto is Alan Winslow. The Village of Bethalto is one of the three fastest-growing communities in Madison County.
If you visit Bethalto you must see the Bethalto Arboretum that is on the east end of town. There are very few arboretums like the Bethalto Arboretum in the area. The Culp Lane Park is a large park on the northwest end of town and was established in 2005. There is a lake where fishing is allowed, a children’s play area and another arboretum. It is a popular spot of the citizens of Bethalto.
