The McHenry County Jail was established in 1837. The correctional facility has the capacity to house 650 inmates. It employees 195 correctional offices and staff. Most inmates are awaiting trial in criminal cases and those that have been sentenced to the County facility. The inmate is held at the facility until they post bond or are sentenced.
