Lincolnwood, Illinois was formerly Tessville and is a village in Cook County, Illinois. The county seat of Cook County is Chicago. At the 2010 census, the population of Lincolnwood was 12,590. Lincolnwood was established n 1911 and has a village form of government with a president and six trustees. Originally Lincolnwood was settled by the Potawatomi Native Americans. They vacated the land after the Indian Boundary Treaty of 1816. Tessville (now Lincolnville) was known as a haven for speakeasies and gambling facilities in the 1920s and ‘30s.
