Lindenhurst is a village in Lake County Illinois. The county seat of Lake County is Waukegan. At the 2010 census, the population of Lindenhurst was 14,462. The village lies within the Valparaiso Moraine from the most recent Ice Age. The land is rich in lakes and swamps. It was originally inhabited by the Potawatomi Indian tribe. The rich soil attracted Europe farmers and the village of Lindenhurst was settled by a wealthy landowner in northern Illinois. The village was incorporated n 1956 and remains a happy place to live and shop.
