Mattoon is known as the Bagel Capital of the World. It is home to the world’s largest bagel and has a weeklong family festival “Lenders Bagelfest”. The Lenders Bagel factory has its home in Mattoon. There are two lakes, one private golf course and two public golf courses. There are many festivals and fairs that take place throughout the Mattoon area to make life fun and interesting in Mattoon.
