Melrose Park is a village in Cook County, Illinois. The county seat is Chicago. Melrose Park is a suburb of Chicago and 14 miles away. As of 2010 Melrose Park had a population of 25,411. There is a large Italian-American population in Melrose Park. In the late 1990s the village underwent major cosmetic improvements. The village street signs were redesigned and the wooded areas on both sides of Silver Creek were excavated, grass replaced in wood chips added along the baes of the remaining trees. Busy streets were repaved and the athletic field next to the village hall was redone. Citizen’s tax dollars at work!
