Metamora, Illinois is a village in Metamora Township, Woodford County, Illinois. The count seat of Woodford Count is Eureka. At the 2010 census, Metamora’s population was 3,636. Metamora is suburb of Peoria. The village was first settled by Yankee settlers. New Hampshire immigrants settled here and built farms, leveled forests, and constructed roads. For a time, Metamora was the county seat of Woodford County. The Metamora Courthouse is a State Historic Site. Abraham Lincoln practiced law here, as well as Adlai E. Stevenson several years later. A good place to stand in the footsteps of history.
