Schaumburg is in Cook County as well as DuPage County in northeastern Illinois. The county seat of Cook County is Chicago and the county seat of DuPage County is Wheaton. The village is a suburb of Chicago and is part of the Golden Corridor. The village is 28 miles northwest of the Chicago loop and 10 miles northwest of O’Hare International Airport. At the 2010 census, the village had a total population of 74,227. There are only two IKEA stores in Illinois and one of them resides in Schaumburg. Schaumburg is high on education. There are two not-for profit universities in the city (the Illinois Institute of Art and Roosevelt University that serves 2,500 students).
