Steger, Illinois is a village in Cook and Will Counties Illinois. The county seat of Cook County is Chicago and the county seat of Will County is Joliet. Steger Is 35 miles south of Chicago and at the 2010 census had a population of 9,570. Steger is a stop on the annual “Driving the Dixie” event that involves traveling down the Dixie Highway in the Chicago Southland and stopping to visit communities along the way. The city hall burned down in 2014 and currently  a new village hall is being constructed.
