West Chicago is a city in DuPage County, Illinois and the county seat is Wheaton. At the 2010 census, the population was 27,086. The city is a cross roads for several railroads: Elgin Joliet & Eastern, and the Chicago, Wheaton, and Western Railway. In the 1990s the city suffered from a nuclear-waste contamination scandal. Harmful waste from the Rare Earth Facility was dumped at the site of the Reed-Keppler Park. The park has since been clean up. Since 2001, the city has undergone a massive face lift.
